What is potassium? You may have seen that “K” on the periodic table of elements, or have heard that bananas have a lot of it, but in simple terms potassium is a mineral that the human body uses for normal daily functions.
Potassium is a mineral that helps your body make it’s muscles move. It does this by acting as an electrolyte in the blood stream. This means it can perform it’s job of transmitting electrical signals from the nervous system which cause muscle contraction.
There are many different sources of potassium, but here are some of my favorite
- Increase in muscle strength
- Higher metabolism
- Improved nervous system functions
- Maintained blood pressure level
- Reduce anxiety and stress
There are many sources to obtain potassium as well as a myriad of benefits to gain. No matter what your situation, it is always best to consult with your doctor before changing the way you eat or exercise.
