Benefits of Potassium

What is potassium? You may have seen that “K” on the periodic table of elements, or have heard that bananas have a lot of it, but in simple terms potassium is a mineral that the human body uses for normal daily functions.

Potassium is a mineral that helps your body make it’s muscles move. It does this by acting as an electrolyte in the blood stream. This means it can perform it’s job of transmitting electrical signals from the nervous system which cause muscle contraction.

The recommended daily amount of potassium for adults ranges from 4.7g to 5.1g. (Source)
