Losing Fat While Eating Carbs

It’s a common myth that you have to eat absolutely zero carbohydrates in order to get rid of those pesky fat pounds.  Well, we’re going to show you that it’s not quite the case, and you can still enjoy those carbs you crave!

People may come across the phrase of carbohydrates for weight loss being somewhat ironic.  However, that’s really not the case.  There have been a lot of studies done over the past several years that have shown diets where a moderate amount of carbohydrates are consumed actually have an equally efficient method to diets that are either low carbohydrate or extremely low carbohydrate.

Here are a few reasons why you might want to consider carbohydrates while you are trying to lose weight or burn fat.

Carbohydrates may be able to help keep your hormones balances throughout your workouts, eating, and daily life.  Fat is one thing that often is tied to healthy levels of different hormones, however carbohydrates help out too! They help increase the hormone leptin much more than fat actually does.  How’s that for some great reasoning behind eating carbs! For those who aren’t familiar, leptin suppresses your appetite.

Now I must take a moment to jump in and say you shouldn’t just go crazy at Panda Express or gulp down gallons of your favorite carbonated beverage.  Carbohydrates should be consumed wisely.  Eat those things in moderation, but choose healthy sources for the majority of your carbohydrates.

Another reason is that carbohydrates actually can help prevent you from losing muscle while you’re trying to lose weight or shed fat.  Carbohydrates are easier for your body to metabolize so it will prefer that fuel source instead of consuming your hard earned muscle!

Now don’t forget about fiber! Carbohydrates can be an excellent source of fiber! Pay attention the next time you pick something up, glance at the nutrition label and check out how many grams of fiber it has.  The more the merrier!

Carbohydrates can be an extremely important source for key nutrients for your body.  During a diet that is restricted in calories your body may react differently if it is not getting the vital nutrients it needs from food.  Carbohydrates can help supply these.  Some great sources for these key nutrients are vegetables and fruits.  An apple a day keeps the doctor away! While that may not be entirely true, it does have some merit to it.  Think of the nutrients when you eat!

No matter what your goals are, make sure you know what you are putting into your body and consider strongly moderating your macro nutrient consumption prior to cutting anything like carbohydrates out completely.
